It's nice to get people interested in science by making stuff like this seem spectacular, but the photons produced by this synchrotron are moving at or below the speed of light as one would expect. It is the group velocity of the radiation that is exceeding the speed of light here, but this has been shown previously, and unfortunately it can't be used for superluminal communication or energy transport. The main application of this work is its utility in generating tightly focussed radio beams.
