THANK 'DAILY SHOW' FOR GAZA SEGMENT
(Los Angeles - 1/8/09) -- The Muslim Public Affairs Council this week sent a letter to the "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Comedy Central commending the writers of the show for their recent episode where Jon Stewart brought awareness and another perspective to a two-sided issue regarding the Gaza crisis.

The letter states, in part:
We commend the entire writing, talent and production team behind the recent episode of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," which aired on January 5, 2009. The segment entitled "Strip Maul: Israel gets their bombing in before January 20th hope and change deadline" was superb. Our staff and members appreciated the honest and critical attention brought to the extremely one-sided news reports about the Gaza crisis that have dominated the airwaves.
As huge fans of the show, we congratulate you for using humor as a tool to encourage critical thinking... We appreciate "The Daily Show's" critical eye, quick wit and fantastic humor.

Highlights from the segment:
- Criticism of the one-sided perspective of our elected leaders
- Description of crushing conditions Palestinians live in and endure
- Exposure of unbalanced news coverage of the Gaza crisis
3. Monitor media coverage and write letters to the editor or post comments.
Israel's decision to bar journalists from entering Gaza has limited the public information available about the tragic plight of Gaza's residents. It is crucial that viewers of television news programs, newspapers, radio shows, and blogs share their comments and call for more even coverage of the war in Gaza.
