Over the weekend, BabyJesus chose to see this movie, but was disheartened to find rottentomatoes.com gave the movie a 21% rating (very low). This is definitely a movie you do want to see on the big screen, but not as heart-thumping a ride as one would assume. Still, for transformers fans from the 80's still an enjoyable flick. The story of the Prime's could have been built up more, but the REAL star of this movie, in my opinion, was John Turturro (in the movie 'robo-warrior'). The story however did need to be built up better and have more deep content (especially with 2.5 hours - they could have done it).
The love, compassion and sacrifice between Shia and Optimus and the Autobots reminded me of the love we have for our children and loved ones. It's a good reminder, as well as Shia's respect for his parents.
This is simply the WORST movie I have ever had the displeasure of sitting through. If you're thinking about going to see it: DON'T DO IT. You will start wondering and reflecting on all the moments in your life you have utterly wasted for no reason. It worries me that people these days lap up this crap.
A damned excellent movie you should go see is "Moon" starring Sam Rockwell. Most intelligent movie I have seen in a while (but probably not showing in a super-duper-plex cinema near you).
I will not defend this movie, however will defend the point that a person goes to see "transformers" because they want to see an action thriller with some cool special effects. If you want an intelligent thriller, don't you think it was a mistake to go see Transfomers to begin with knowing that it was not meant to be an 'intelligent' flick?
But dude, this was going tooooo far. "Star Trek" was a much better (if still dumbed down) action thriller with killer effects. If I want to watch just effects, I can use my friend's Xbox. And the effects looked totally fake. The only thing going for this flick was Megan Fox - hhhh....hhhot!!
If I may...
A for Action
A for the comic relief
D- for the unecessary sexual inuendos and language (worse than last movie)
Overall: B-
Agree with BabyJesus...movie is fun to watch for fans of the original cartoons/movies but don't expect a epic story. The true "Star" is the action.

For all of these factors, I give this movie a B-
